March 6 2014: Two armed robberies at the Kameeldrift smallholdings: two farm workers tied up and robbed
Surita Louwrens Coetzer 1:18am Mar 6 - Plotwag citizen defence watch: "The previously reported attack at the Uitsig smallholdings
at Kameeldrift had just been brought under control when the next emergency call reached our Plotwag patrol vehicle, she wrote. "About 2km from the earlier incident uit Uitsig, six armed 'robbers' cut through a Bonnox fence and attacked another farm-worker.
Entrance was gained by breaking open the windows of the sleeping quarters. The farm worker was tied up with the ties from his trainers, robbed of his cellphone and R350 cash and other belongings.
The description of the gang's firearms shows that hunting rifles and an A|K47 were used, and that six persons participated in the attack itself - of whom four had firearms.
Another farm worker noticed the robbers and alerted the owner while the robbers continued breaking open the other bedrooms.
Plotwag rushed to the scene when they were contacted. Meanwhile the owner fired warning shots when he saw the armed men at the property.
This made the six men flee. The attackers were all described as Zulu-speakers. They wore balaclavas.
No other descriptions were provided. The SAPS Hercules was notified while Plotwag continued patrolling the area.
