May 3 2014 - In a new twist to the mystery of missing Dimitri Sarenok, it has emerged that the house he owned, and which he rented to his murdered tenant Jurgens Rombouts, was vandalised.

Cape Town - In a new twist to the mystery of missing Russian master mariner Dimitri Sarenok, (*note: the correct spelling of his name is Sarenok, not Sarenol) it has emerged that the Strand house he owned, and outside which a murder occurred last week, was vandalised and hate messages painted on its walls.
Sarenok’s tenant, Belgian citizen Jurgen Rombouts, 26, was shot dead in front of the Morgenster Street house last Friday.
Sarenok, 50, disappeared after the murder and is thought to be the last person who used a skiboat, named Olly, that washed up at Glencairn on Thursday without anyone on board.
Neighbours of Rombouts, who were too afraid to give their names, said they had found the house open and in a mess earlier this week.
Painted in big black letters on the walls of the front passage and a bedroom were the messages “You’re going to die in hell”, “You’re a murderer”, and
“You might have taken his body, but not his soul”, the neighbours said. The toilet and basin in the bathroom were smashed to pieces.
The taps had been left turned on, leaving the house flooded.Several neighbours said the house had been filthy, with soil, what appeared to be dog faeces and dog and cat food lying on the floor.
“It’s the dirtiest house I’ve seen in my life,” one neighbour said, adding that he saw cockroaches and cobwebs in the house.
The house was later cleaned up by a man who told a neighbour that Sarenok had “given” him the house, his 26-foot boat and his car.
“I can’t understand why Dimitri would go off in a little boat (Olly) when he owned a much bigger boat he could use. I think he’s trying to give the impression he’s died at sea,” the neighbour said.
Rombouts was shot dead in front of his girlfriend, Chenelle Pretorius. He was hit once on the head, twice in the chest, and twice on the right side of his body.
The murderer rammed his red Nissan Sani into the right side of Rombouts’s black BMW, before getting out and shooting Rombouts.
Ms Pretorius was in the front passenger seat of the BMW, and screamed in terror when her boyfriend was shot.
The gunman jumped back into his Nissan, drove a few hundred metres down Morgenster Street, got out, set the car alight and fled the scene.
According to the neighbours, Rombouts had been involved in a dispute with Sarenok at the time of his death.
Police spokesman Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said Sarenok might be able to assist the police “with information to solve a murder case”.

In the Afrikaans daily Die Burger it was reported that the missing Russian had stolen a skiboat from Harbour Island and fled shortly after the execution of his tenant,

Die Burger reporter Julian Jansen wrote that closed-circuit video cameras recorded Sarenol's departure. The stolen boat drifted onto the rocks near Glencair, Simon's Town. SAPS spokesman colonel
Teminkosi Kikana told the newspaper that they have found ammunition and a spent cartridge casing inside the boat and that its key was still in the ignition.
Sarenok's own boat apparently was being repaired. Die Burger wrote: "Sarenok reportedly has good contacts in international shipping. It is suspected that he used the skiboat to reach a larger vessel in the open sea."
The SAPS has opened a missing person docket for Sarenok. Investigating officer lt.col Franklin Plaatjies at tel 0-082-469-3359 says they believe that Sarenok has important information which could lead to police to Rombout's killers.
The two killers (no description) arrived in a red Nissan bakkie just as Rombouts and fiance Chanelle Victor (or Pretorius?) left the driveway at 07h15 to go to work.
He was gunned down with six shots in front of his fiancée. The two gunmen drove about 300metres further down the road, torched the bakkie and fled on foot.
Rombouts' dad Jan said his son was 'executed'. He was all set to testify in a criminal case regarding a February 2014 breakin at his neighbour's house and had received death-threats.
Jan Rombouts senior is the chairman of the Belgian Campus in Pretoria and his son worked at the Cape Town Internatinal Airport.
Chanelle's parents Adrian and Yvette Pretorius wrote that 'things are not well with our daughter', who remained behind badly traumatized.
A memorial service was held for the handsome young Belgian at the Dutch Reformed church in Wonderpark, Pretoria.

Die 5,5 meter lange skiboot Olly, waarmee Dimitri Alexander Sarenok verlede Vrydagoggend uit Gordonsbaai weg is, is eergister op die rotse by Glencairn naby Simonstad gevind.
Sarenok het verlede Vrydag kort ná die skietdood van Rombouts in die Strand op die skiboot uit Harbour Island vertrek.
Betroubare bronne het gesê videomateriaal van kringtelevisiekameras by die hawe toon hoe ’n man op Olly klim en daarna by die hawe uitvaar.

Ses skote is daarna op Rombouts gevuur, waarna die aanvallers gevlug het. Die aanvallers het die bakkie 300 m verder aan die brand gesteek en gevlug.
Rombouts se pa, Jan, het vroeër vandeesweek aan Die Burger gesê sy seun is “tereggestel”.
Rombouts sr. is die voorsitter van die Belgiese Kampus in Pretoria.
Sy seun was ’n getuie toe daar in Februarie by sy buurman se huis ingebreek is. Na verneem word, is R6 000 kontant, twee BlackBerry-selfone en ’n skootrekenaar gesteel.
Sy seun, wat by die Kaapstadse Internasionale Lughawe gewerk het, sou binnekort in die strafsaak getuig het.
Volgens sy pa het hy vroeër doodsdreigemente ontvang.
Victor se ouers, Adrian en Yvette Pretorius van Pretoria, het op Facebook hul hartseer oor Rombouts se dood uitgespreek.
“Asseblief, bid net vir Chanelle, gaan glad nie goed met haar nie,” het haar ma onder meer geskryf.
Rombouts se roudiens is gister in die NG gemeente Wonderpark in Pretoria gehou.
