Four years after the murder of wildlife veterinarian Dr Paul Meyer of Gravelotte, kidnapped from their farm with his wife with his wife and baby, his killer is living 'like the mightiest man in the universe' in Mozambique - controlling a rhino-smuggling syndicate, writes Rapport Afrikaans weekly newspaper journalist Elise Tempelhoff on June 8 2014.
The SA Police Service's role in this entire affair - from the mysterious 'escape' of three of the arrested murderers from the Gravelotte jail cell in 2009 to the fact that the identified murder now still has not been extradicted four years later from Mozambique, leaves many questions unanswered.

A SA court issued an order for the arrest of 31yo 'Mr Navarra" in February 2009 - but the SAPS has failed to get him extradicted to stand trial. However Rapport was able to find him 'quite easily', writes Tempelhoff - in Massingir, a tiny village east of Phalaborwa and less than 30km from the border of the Kruger Wildlife Reserve...
Residents say that "Mr Navarra' is easily recognisable by his red EFF-beret ('Economic Freedom Fighters' party in South Africa) -- and refers to himself as the 'Massingir Juju (petname for EFF politician Julius Malema). "Mr Navarra' views himself as invincible because there's no extradiction accord between Mozambique and South Africa. When Rapport showed a picture of 'Mr Navarra" to his widow Marilise Meyer-Bouwer, now 37, she identified him without hesitation: "that's him,' she said to Rapport.
Her husband was shot dead in front of her and her six-weeks-old baby Paul Wouter when they were attacked in their home in the Selati Nature Reserve. She looked straight into the eyes of one of the attackers, she said. "I didn't look away once,' she told Rapport. "He became uncomfortable and asked me why I looked at him like that. I told him: 'I never want to forget your face'.'
She has remarried and now works as a veterinary nurse at the Pretoria National Zoo. The Meyer couple and their little baby were pushed into one of Dr Meyer's 4x vehicles by the gang while 3 other Afrikaners with them were also kidnapped in another vehicle. When Dr Meyer tried to take away a gun from one of the attackers sitting in front, he was shot dead and his body was thrown from the bakkie.
The SAPS managed to arrest three of the attackers but they "managed to somehow escape by sawing through the bars of the jail-cell windows in Gravelotte".
The SAPS confirmed, wrote Rapport, that it was this same rhino-poaching warlord now known as "Mr Navarra' who pulled the trigger and shot dead Dr Meyer.
They also confirmed that he was not amongst the three arrested men who escaped.
('Beeld' journalist Virgina Keppler wrote at the time that Dr Paul Meyer, 38, ran his veterinary practice from a farm near the Selati wildlife reserve in Limpopo province, next to the Mozambican border.
FEb 5 2009. The article was reposted to http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/266680 but its original pictures have disappeared.
It stated:
"The young wife, Marilise Meyer, 34 at the time, was pistol whipped while she was breastfeeding her six-week-old-baby. The family had been kidnapped with friends Pierre and Sue Gallagher from their homestead kitchen on Tuesday-night with baby Wouter, 5 months.
The FOUR armed attackers, who spoke a Mozambican language, carried AK47s attack carbines.
They drove the five white kidnapped people towards the Mozambiquan border at breakneck speed in two farm vehicles which had been stolen from the farm.
They stopped a few kilometres short of the border, dumped their kidnap victims next to the roadside, and removed the electronic tracking devices from the robbed farm vehicles.
While they were doing this, they also proceeded to pistol-whip Mrs Meyer while she was breastfeeding baby Wouter in a desperate attempt to keep the baby quiet. They also beat the young wife - who worked as a veterinary assistant at her husband's practice -- across the lower back with a monkey wrench. It's not known why the defenceless young wife was attacked like this.
They had earlier shot dead her unarmed husband Dr Paul Meyer, 38, execution style, while he had desperately tried to grab one of the guns from the attackers.

(Beeld's original story was on http://www.news24.com/Beeld/Suid-Afrika/0,,3-975_2465117,00.html However the pro-ANC publication has since then removed many of its sonamed 'farm attack' stories describing these cruel murders and attacks against Afrikaner farmers. Our Censorbugbear sites have been saving these reports from censorship and they can thus still be found back)
Rapport writes on June 8 2014 that they have now managed to trace the 'alleged' killer through an unnamed member of the Frelimo youth league in Mozambique which is waging a campaign against rhino-poaching. 'Mr Navarro' 's gang waged a terror campaign against whites in Hoedspruit, Gravelotte and Phalaborwa with a car-theft syndicate stealing luxury vehicles - especially Nissan Navarras', leading to the killer's nickname. Rapport wrote that they were advised by their legal team to not publish the man's real name.
