Parkview radiologist Jennifer Butters, 55, murdered at home in fierce struggle: nothing robbed
October 3 2014 - JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old woman who was murdered in her Parkview home.
Jennifer Butters was stabbed to death on Wednesday night but police say nothing was taken from her home.
Butters worked as a radiologist at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital and was alone at the time of the attack. The hospital at the moment is under siege by health workers demanding higher wages, as are most other hospitals in south Africa at the moment in an ongoing campaign by the Health Workers Union. It's not known whether these two matters are linked, but there is an atmosphere of unrest around the hospital premises.
Police say she managed to press her panic button but security officials could not reach the house soon enough.
Police Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha says, “She had a stab wound to her neck and the whole house had blood all over which pointed to a possible struggle.
But nothing seems to be missing in the house, everything looks intact.
She graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1984.

The SA police said the security company, ADT received a panic alarm from the Donegal Avenue home. Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said when security officials arrived on the scene, they found the woman lying in a pool of blood “with a stab wound to her neck and barely alive”.
Ramovha said there were no signs of forced entry to the property and no valuable items seemed to be missing. A murder docket had been opened and an investigation was underway.Meanwhile, Ward 87 councillor Amanda Forsythe said she was shocked by the tragic event as Parkview was one of the safest suburbs in her ward.
Forsythe said the woman lived alone. She added that they were worried that the woman’s domestic worker could have been abducted as her handbag was still at the home and she was missing. Ramovha appealed to anyone who may have information that could lead to an arrest to come forward.
