There was no attempt to enter the homestead after the couple were shot: the wife is critically injured.

- Farmer Stick Green, 70, murdered in Estcourt The farmer was shot dead execution style on Monday 5 January 2015 on his farm in Estcourt, KZN.
Police major Thulani Zwane said the attackers fled with the farmer's vehicle but the motive for the murder is unknown.

KWAZULU-NATAL MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, has strongly condemned the callous killing of farmer, Mr. Stick Green, who was found dead in his Estcourt home in the early hours of this morning, 5 January 2015. Police say Green succumbed to internal injuries after being shot in the stomach by a group of men that attacked him early this morning. The suspects are alleged to have stolen Green’s bakkie, cellphone, laptop and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
Police have opened a murder and armed robbery case and an investigation is already underway. Today (Mnday, 5 January 2015), Mchunu expressed anger, shock and condemned Green’s murder, urging anyone who might have any information that might lead to arrests of those responsible for his death to come forward. I am deeply shocked by this farm killing incident. Such incidents should be strongly condemned. I am assured that members of the police are working around the clock to ensure that those who are responsible for this cold-blooded murder are brought to book as soon as possible,” said Mchunu. Mchunu reiterated his concerns that incidents like these tended to undermine food security and business confidence in the province. “Once again, we urge all members of the provincial farming community, including farm workers to work together to ensure safety and security in this important sector of our economy,” said Mchunu.He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to relatives, colleagues and friends of Green

Johan Fourie 67 murdered New year's eve on farm Taasibosch

“He's the kind of old man who would never hurt a fly. I don't understand why anybody would want to shoot him dood,' said Piet Snyman, director of the Midland farm-group, after one of their truck drivers Johan Fourie 67 was shot dead
on New Year's eve outside the rental home on the Taaibosch farm near Sasolburg.
His life-partner Daniel Liebenberg, 34,
said that when his mother Elizabeth, 61, closed the drapes between 17h30 and 18h00 she saw an unknown man outside looking in. Elizabeth and Johan both went outside to investigate and Liebenberg's mother asked the man: What Are You Doing Here?
"Then he simply fired a shot. Johan moved in front of Elizabeth LIebenberg and caught the bullet. He was struck in the chest." Mr LIebenberg who works as a dispatch-clerk, was on the other side of the homestead at the home and rushed to the kitchen when he heard the shot.
Police spokesman lt. Livhuhani Hani said the man was dead 'at the scene'.
The survivors now have moved from the farm and moved to Kragbron.![]()
