Councillor falls victim to gunmen A neighbour heard a scream from the house and alerted Park Patrol. The burglar proceeded to remove items from the house.
Sharl Els reports on 27 February 2015 WARD 64 Councillor Billie Prinsloo was the victim of an armed robbery at her home in Pigeon Drive, Yellowwood Park on Sunday, 22 February.
At about 12.50pm, Prinsloo and her 64-year-old partner were cleaning out their garage when they were approached by two men who jumped over the wall of the home.
The men demanded cellphones and wanted to know if their cars were fitted with tracking devices. One burglar held Prinsloo at gunpoint and hit her partner repeatedly while the other burglar went into the house. The councillor’s 90-year-old mother was inside and the burglar held her by her throat and locked her in the bedroom.
A neighbour heard a scream from the house and alerted Park Patrol. The burglar proceeded to remove items from the house.
The men fled cash in a white Hyundai with a TV, camera, laptop and R1, 280 in. “It happened so fast. The burglars were fit, alert and spoke good English. My mother is very traumatised. She collapsed because she couldn’t breathe. She is scared to be alone since the incident.” she said.
