11 March 2015. This black man is Willem Fortuin of the former asbestos-mining town of Prieska in the North Cape province of South africa.
He was sentenced at the De Aar High Court to a mere 18 years in prison for a family-feud related double murder: found guilty of torching and killing Rosie Meintjies 25 and Owen Olyn 20, on 20 March 2014 on the farm Lemoenpoort.
He was sleeping in the same farm-house with the couple and the workers Leon Ludick 24 and Magdaline Jood, 33.
Ludick testified that he woke up when he heard screams and saw that Meintjies and Olyn were on fire.
Lt Sergio Kock of the Prieska police confirmed that the 37-year-old Fortuin had set the couple alight out of jealousy and that the couple had died of serve burn-wounds.
