Survives, shot in face: Farm-manager Ian van Druten was shot in his face by black gunmen in Vaalwater region Limpopo:
SAPS col. Ronel Otto told Afriforum publication Maroela Media that Mr van Druten, in his fourties, went to the farm-store at 07h00
His wife at the nearby homestead heard the shots and alerted neighbours and the police. Nothing was robbed. The black gunmen fled.
He was admitted to hospital 'but not critical'. It's not known how extensively the facial injuries will cause permanent scarring.
The attack on Van Druten is one of 'many this month in Limpopo':
-- On Tuesday a guard at a Nylstroom farm was attacked and injured with a hammer.
-- Earlier farm-dweller Sean Henry Bates 19 and his widowed mom put up a fight for their lives against two black attackers at their smallholding
in Pietersburg.
-- On 5 April Eugene du Toit was attacked on his farm between Groblersdal and Marble Hall;
-- And Carel “Bossie” Badenhorst (63) was found murdered on 4 April. A property agent and potential purchasers had showed up at the farm and found the murdered farmer in a storage area
on the farm Doelgerig.
-- Two weeks earlier Jakes van Deventer (35) was murdered in a Warmbaths farm.
-- And three black suspects were arrested in the Naboomspruit region.
Otto told Maroela Media that 'police officers recognised the three criminals as known burglars they had been searching for
as part of a gang.
-- And a thirty-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday 10 April 2015 after attacking a farm in Limpopo during which a woman was raped and injured.
Otto said there is a 'definite increase in attacks in this area but we did arrest several people.'"It is difficult to say whether these were
'isolated incidents' or whether all these attacks are linked. We are investigating if members of a large gang are still at large.'
