HERMANUS: New report: A 77-year-old man was tied up in his house for several hours before his housekeeper found him the following day. On 12 August at about 22:30, the elderly man was in his house in 3rd Avenue in Sandbaai when two men and a woman entered his bedroom. According to Constable Mbongeni Mazuthu, spokesperson for the Hermanus SAPS, the robbers tied him up with an electrical cord and demanded cash. They fled the scene with a cellphone, bank cards and R78 in cash. No weapons were used in the robbery. The housekeeper called Safe Security when there was no response to her knocking on the door the following morning at 09:00. The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Hermanus Hospital to receive medical treatment. A 25-year-old woman was arrested in connection with this house robbery and appeared in the Hermanus Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
