A year later: no arrests for gruesome double-murders of Trevor 83 and Laura Rees 82, tortured to death in Farrarmere, Benoni: Old man was bludgeoned and stabbed to death, his defenceless wife's throat was cut: she was unable to walk since a stroke several years earlier. Very little of value was 'stolen': (apparently just a cellphone and their old car, found abandoned in bad condition months later.)
5 July 2013 -- On July 8 2013 the police still had not arrested anyone for the double torture-murder of elderly Trevor and Laura Rees: even though the black male suspects were seen fleeing from the area in a 1980 FVX551GP Red Charade according to a treet tweet from PigSpotter on March 21 2012
Trevor (83) and Laura (82) Rees were stabbed and beaten to death in their house, in March 2012:
Mrs Rees' throat was cut and she had bled to death: she also was totally defenceless against her attackers: she had suffered a stroke a few years earlier and walked with a zimmer-frame:
Mr Reese, 87, was bludgeoned over the head and stabbed repeatedly while he was in the outside room he used for his woodworking-hobby:

At the time, police suspected the murder took place on March 18, as the bodies were already starting to decompose on March 20, when they were found.
The couple had been been married for 60 years, and had been living in the area for the past 40 years.Police Lt Nomsa Sekele said that police are still investigating the murder case. "At the moment, there are no leads or any arrests," she added.
Sekele said the investigating officer is communicating with the couple's son, Glyn, who lives in Australia.
The police believed, at the time, that the murderer was known to the couple, "as no trace of a struggle was visible at the murder scene".
One of the neighbours was also reported to have seen a person - police gave NO physical description - in a "vehicle"(details unpublished) leaving the Rees's residence late that evening.

However while the trail clearly has grown cold, two days after the double-murder of the long-time Benoni residents, the information about the car used by the 'black male suspects' was published almost immediately after the double-murder on Twitter by @PigSpotter on March 21 2012 writing:
