Afrikaner farmer Johan Venter's suspected murderer escapes from court-cells Middelburg Mpu: ---------------- 28 November 2013 MIDDELBURG. During the four years since their patriarch, farmer Johan Venter's cowardly murder on the farm Keerom, the family was pleased that one of the murder suspects Mduduzi Nkosi was in prison awaiting trial. Mr Venter was shot dead by cowardly gunmen in their bedroom in his Middelburg homestead on 22 Jan 2010 and his wife Rentia was shot in the stomach and wrist by a second attacker who was just. One arrested suspect - (amazingly, still not tried after four years in trial-awaiting custody) -- Mduduzi Nkosi managed to escape Wednesday-early from the SAPS cells in Middelburg Mpumalanga. ------------- Look Local Middelburg journalist Daleen Naudé writes that the widow 's reaction was one of obvious fear and terror: she reportedly said: "We can only ask a Higher Hand to protect us,' after hearing the news. She added that the family had upgraded their security at their home considerably since the murder of their beloved patriarch. The black gunmen had managed to get into their bedroom where Mr Venter fought back to protect his wife. He was still calling for help from their son Jaco when one of the black men shot him execution style in the head. Meanwhile another black man who was still climbing through the burglar-bars of their window, fired shots at Mrs Venter, injuring her in the stomach and a wrist. A farm-commando and SAPS members sought day and night to find the murderers. Initially three suspects were arrested. About two weeks after Mr Venter's funeral Nkosi 'was arrested again' after Nkosi and cellmate Johannes Mthimunye 'escaped' in Dec 2009 from the cells at the municipal court. They were in trial-awaiting custody for robbery and assault at the time. And now Nkosi has escaped once again. Mrs Venter said they had taken every possible safety precaution they could think of after her husband was murdered. Now the family is praying that Nkosi will be captured again. Nkosi and Johannes Mthimunye were scheduled for a three-day trial in January 2014 for a large number of other offences besides the mudder of farmer Venter: including murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping. One of their trials was in process when Nkosi managed to 'escape' again this week, fleeing with two other suspects Simphiwe Ngobeni (33) - on trial for possession of stolen property - and Lucky Thabang Mnisi (21) on charge for theft. The SAPS claimed that the three hardened criminals managed to escape by 'breaking open the door between the waiting room of the cells and cutting through the security wiring'. The police failed to say how the three could have gotten their hands on a sharp object to do this with.daleen@mobserver.co.za http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/middelburg/middelburg-news-general?oid=7984901&sn=Detail&pid=4979902&Mduduzi-ontsnap
