Middelburg Mpuma biscuit truck driver killed after he was very likely assaulted at notorious prostitution spot: but SAPS trampled all over the crime-scene collecting boxes of biscuits:

2 December 2013 journalist Yaseen Gaffar: "The driver of a truck carrying a load of biscuits was killed during the early hours of Thursday morning in circumstances that suggest he was either attacked or hijacked before running in front of a vehicle that caused his death. He could not be named at the time of going to print as he was yet to be identified by family members. Police were unable to provide any details on the owner of the truck or biscuit company it belonged to. According to a police official who was on the scene, there were signs of assault on the man's body and the mysterious whereabouts of the truck made "no sense at all" as the driver had apparently deviated off-course. The official asked not to be named due to the "sensitivity surrounding the nature of the incident." The truck was found along the Keiskamma road close to the Vandyksdrift intersection that leads towards the N4 Highway.
-- A small nearby settlement surrounded by open-cast coal mining is a notorious crime hot-spot also associated with prostitution.
-- The truck was apparently discovered at least 500m from the road on a muddy embankment surrounded by thick bush and was towed by Van Wettens early on Thursday morning.
However the truck had reportedly "lost" almost all its load of Tops Biscuits which could not be accounted for.
Later on Thursday morning several Police vehicles were on the scene collecting several crushed boxes of biscuits that were scattered all over the area - further complicating possible scenarios as to what really happened during the early hours of Thursday.
The Middelburg SAPS were still gathering information regarding the incident at the time of publication, and could not provide details on the matter nor confirm if the driver was attacked or hijacked.
