Afrikaner resident Leroy Venter was attacked on Monday around 12h00 at the Booysen post office to get his driver's licence renewed when 100 black men armed with sticks, bricks and knobkieries threw out the windows of the government building and took Venter and four other PO customers hostage.
One of the hostages asked him whether 'today would be the day that we will get murdered'.
It was weird but I wasn't really scared'. He took a picture of vehicle which was overturned and its windows bashed out. SAPS w/ro Gorden Billing confirmed that two other post office vehicles were also pelted by a rain of stones around the same time.
He said nobody was arrested. The SAPS confirmed the 'illegal strike'of its workers and warned it would influence postal deliveries in certain parts of the country'.
