Nescafé Coffee Jar wins hand-to-hand-combat for SANDF-ret Sergeant-Major Lea Minnaar in fight with black gunman at Boekenhoutskloof smallholding "I was furious and planned to him in in the family jewels with the Nescafé Coffee Jar when he fled...' she said. 16 September 2013 Fifty-six year old just retired SANDF sergeant-major Lea Minaar stepped out on the stoep of her Boekenhoutskloof smallholding for a smoke at 20h45 Thursday-evening when two armed black males stormed towards her. She fled back into the homestead with one of the gunmen short on her heels. "The guy had a pistol in his hands, he pushed me over and stormed towards my dad in the living room. I locked the door to prevent the second thug from getting inside. And when I looked back I saw the gunman holding his pistol to dad's head.' She first grabbed a ceramic pot, stormed towards the gunman and clobbered him repeatedly over the head with it. The pot smashed so she grabbed the next weapon: a flower pot and continued bashing the gunman with it until it fell from her hands. Next she grabbed the Nescafe coffee bottle: that didn't break: she continued bashing the gunman with it 'until the blood was running." He hit her over the head with a pistol-butt. "I was furious and next was planning to hit him in his family jewels,' she said. The sergeant-major's fury was just too much for the young black male thug: he retreated hastily towards the door while warding off her blows and tried to unlock it."As he ran towards the door I grabbed my dad's walking stick and bashed him everywhere, against the neck and head. He opened the door and ran away."That's when I heard a shot being fired'. Her son Dirkie had come running to her homestead from the outside, hearing the commotion, and nearly ran into the gunman - who fired a shot towards him. The home-invader fired a second shot towards us from outside which went through the roof of the stoep, (porch),' she said. Meanwhile Minnaar's brother Eben Minnaar who also lives at the smallholding in a seperate cottage, stormed in with his .375 revolver. He said: "the gunman fired three shots towards us, and I fired two shots back just to remind them we are also armed." The neighbourhood watch, the SAPS and the ambulance were on the scene very quickly. Lea Minnaar said the police started taking fingerprints immediately. After her courageous fight, she required treatment to the headwound. She also was shaken and traumatised and said she appreciated the ambulance attendant holding her hand to calm her down, she said. No-one was arrested. Boere Krisis Aksie: Sept 16 2013: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=722289624464252&set=a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416&type=1&theater
