Murder: Elderly home-owner dies from bludgeoning over the head by black man with concrete block: on Alamanda Road, Glen Hills, Durban, South Africa AWAITING MORE DETAILS 16 January 2015 The only item 'robbed' despite this very excessive violence was a cellphone. The whole house could have been stripped clean. Why only 'rob' a cellphone? Report by Marshall Security: "At around 12:00 yesterday the Marshall Security control room received a call from a client in Alamanda Road, Glen Hills. She reported that there was an attempted hi-jacking and her husband had been badly assaulted outside their premises. We immediately dispatched our response vehicles together with an ambulance to the scene, upon arrival it was ascertained that the elderly victim had been waiting outside for his wife to move the vehicle from the garage when he was attacked by a male suspect who used a concrete block and assaulted him on his head, a copper pipe was also used in the attack and his wife was also assaulted before the suspect took the victims cell phone and fled the scene. The victims were attend to by paramedics and transported by ambulance to hospital. Our vehicles searched the entire area, but were unable to locate the suspect, a resident managed to capture good CCTV footage of the suspect fleeing the scene. Tragically we were informed later that day that the husband had succumbed to his injuries and passed away in hospital.
