"We will make this place ungovernable": 8 Aug 2013. Rioting, looting suatter-camp residents in Kokosi outside Fochville said they aren't afraid of the police. Two days earlier they torched the homes of three ANC-councillors, looted the contents of a liquor outlet, they have chased away all the foreign-shop owners (mostly Pakistanis and Somalis); a SAPS colonel was hit by a stone against the head, the police fired rubber bullets at the gangsters who pelted the police with beer-bottles and stones - and had also prepared petrol-bombs. "We aren't scared of you, even if you shoot us down like dogs,' shouted one 'protestor' during his arrest. Kokosi resident Thabiso Monyatsi said they are targeting the cops 'because they are only protecting the rich. They don't look at us'. Local DA caucus leader Johan Jooste said 'the situation is chaotic. Three ANC councillors' houses were torched, one of our councillors received a death threat, saying 'you will be next'.The socalled 'economic freedom fighters' Kenny Kunene also arrived to add fuel to the fire: saying 'we are a protest moment and we support any form of protest which will give people 'access to land'." However when the gangs started pelting bottles at the police he got into his blue VW golf and drove off."Municipal-IQ" monitor said there will likely be just as many 'service delivery protests' (their words for violent riots) as there were last year. Its head Kevin Alan said 'protest actions are an increasingly worrying tendency often marked by violence.' (No kidding? He noticed? Who pays his salary?) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=699410756752139&set=a.178568022169751.48293.116298045063416&type=1&theater
